Louis XVI sofa in gilded wood and carved with neoclassical-inspired motifs, made between the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, based on models created by Parisian cabinetmakers around 1750/60; these furnishings, characterized by a great sense of balance and designed with perfect proportions, were then re-proposed in the first part of the nineteenth century for Italian clients (Genoese, Florentine or Turin in particular) for which it is often difficult to trace their exact origin.
Our sofa rests on four front legs and two rear truncated pyramidal legs in the shape of fluted columns; Feet connected to the belt with a daisy-shaped nut. The armrest and backrest supports are curved, rolled and grooved in the shape of a balustrade.
The piece of furniture has been perfectly restored and consolidated and is in perfect condition. Seat with cushion, backrest and armrests padded and newly upholstered in our laboratory.
The furniture may originally have been made of carved wood, then gilded with gold leaf in a later period.
Accompanied by certificate of authenticity (FIMA).
