This prestigious, richly carved and gilded parade console represents a remarkable example of Louis XIV's typical decorative repertoire, with particularly sumptuous elements for the sculpture's sculptural resolution. in the Roman Baroque period. It is composed of a marble tray placed on a rich base with intertwined scrolls. The legs are characterized by the movement of jagged lines, the result of elaborate twists and large volutes with curved ends, floral and plant elements, with a female head in the middle of the ties. In the important Roman palaces located between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, consoles were among the most sought after furniture, emblem of the wealth of the client, to show in the large reception rooms. This type of very decorative furniture represents more than any other taste of the time, because more creativity gives it a picturesque effect, contributing to the majesty of the building that houses it. The furniture, due to the workers who worked in Rome towards the end of the 17th century, presents a design with a clear and incomparable baroque taste, inspired by models designed by Bernini. In particular, the construction characteristics of our furniture share a good number of works from the studio of Giovanni Paolo Schor (Innsbruck 1615 - Rome 1674) and his son Filippo Schor (Rome 1646 - Naples 1701). Enrambi spent most of his career in Rome, working for the Vatican and other important patrons, collaborating with artists such as Bernini, Carlo Rainaldi and Pietro da Cortona. Their works, which resulted in various types of furniture, exhibit and play on the theatricality and dynamism of the Baroque. Our console can be connected to various models of consoles or wall tables manufactured by the Schor workshop, which seem to draw lines faithfully, now preserved in the Roman collections of Ruspoli, Corsini and Spada.
