This elegant console, richly carved and gilded, represents a remarkable example of the typical decorative repertoire of Louis XV, with elements of particular sumptuousness for the sculptural resolution of the carving, fitting into the late Baroque of Roman cabinetmaking.

It is composed of a countertop veneered in white Calacatta Corchia marble with gray veins, placed on a rich base with intertwined scrolls. The three supports are characterized by the movement of jagged lines with a precious carving decoration, the result of elaborate interlacing with double volutes with curled ends and vegetal elements.

The part that makes this furniture special is the lacquering which, with this light ivory shade, gives an effect similar to the stone sculptures, with a clear and unmistakable design still Baroque heir of the "Bernini" season, a characteristic that together with others elements present in the same, unite a good number of works known and already attributed to the workers of the city.

In the important Roman palaces between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries the consolles were among the most sought after furnishings, emblem of the client's wealth, to be displayed in the large reception rooms. This type of highly decorative furniture represents more than any other the taste of the period, since in them creativity renders the scenic effect, contributing to the majesty of the building that houses it.

STATE OF CONSERVATION: The splendid console is in excellent state of conservation. Perfectly restored in our restoration laboratory (structural consolidation, cleaning, integration of gilding).
